Lewis Hamilton's Advice Transforms Ferrari's Performance at US GP: A Deep Dive (2025)

A Formula 1 power shift? Ferrari, after a series of behind-the-scenes talks initiated by none other than Lewis Hamilton, saw a significant performance boost at the United States Grand Prix. This wasn't just luck; it was the result of actionable advice and swift implementation.

Hamilton, a name synonymous with F1 excellence, hinted at these 'background talks' following the Singapore Grand Prix. The Scuderia, clearly listening, put these suggestions into practice during the US GP weekend. The result? A noticeably cleaner session and a marked improvement in one-lap performance at the Circuit of The Americas.

But how much of a difference did it make? Hamilton qualified in fifth place for Sunday's race, a mere four-tenths of a second behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen. That's a tight margin in the high-stakes world of F1!

"We made some improvements in terms of our processes going into this qualifying session," Hamilton revealed, highlighting the team's adaptability. "We tried something different and it really, really worked, so I’m really proud of the team for being open and making the changes."

The seven-time champion had previously pinpointed areas for improvement within the Italian team, including their car release strategies and tire preparation. It seems those observations didn't fall on deaf ears.

So, what exactly changed? Hamilton explained that it was a holistic approach. "It’s just how we execute the session. It’s how we communicate. It’s the calm approach. It’s the timing that we go out. It’s the temperature of our tyres, all those sorts of things. We just executed it much better just altogether.”

However, the qualifying session wasn't without its challenges. Hamilton struggled with understeer on the uneven track surface. "Set-up-wise, I had a big oversteer yesterday throughout qualifying, which made it really difficult for us going off. In this session, I started with massive understeer, so I was basically trying to dial that out. I added like eight holes in the front wing or something like that."

And this is the part most people miss... The adjustments to the front wing came late in the session, impacting his confidence in the car during the crucial first run.

Hamilton managed to capitalize on a mistake by his teammate, Charles Leclerc, overtaking him when the Monegasque briefly went off track. However, he admitted that without Leclerc's error, a pass would have been unlikely. "I had a lot of understeer in the race, so highly unlikely I would have been able to get close and overtake in the race. Given that we’re both on the same tyre, I think he had a lot more front wing than me, so highly unlikely. But he made the mistake at the end of the day and I was able to capitalise [on] it.”

Despite these challenges, Hamilton remained optimistic about Sunday's race. "I definitely learned a bit more about where to put the car. Just in general today, I learned a bit more about where to put the car. Overall, I’ve been pretty happy throughout the weekend.”

Controversy Alert: Could this be the beginning of a new era for Ferrari, fueled by external insights? Or is it simply a temporary blip? What are your thoughts on Hamilton's influence and Ferrari's response? Share your opinions in the comments below!
